Wall and Floor Tiles / Glazed Ceramic Tiles
Ceramic tiles are ideal if you’re trying to
achieve a certain look on a budget.
They are the easiest of materials to work
with and so should mean less labour costs.
These tiles are most commonly used in bathrooms and
kitchens for your wall and / or floor. They have a glazed
biscuit backing (in either white or red) which makes them
unsuitable for use outdoors. For this reason they are
generally not suitable for commercial high traffic areas or
exterior applications. Ceramic tiles are available in a wide
variety of colours and designs which you can enhance by
using borders in ceramics, mosaics or natural stone.
Large tiles will make your room look bigger as there are
less grout lines. However, bowing is a characteristic of large
format rectangle tiles. Bowing can be described as slight
curve in the tile where by the surface is not perfectly flat.
This characteristic is more noticeable when the tiles are
laid brick bond or in a staggered pattern. For this reason
Tubs & Tiles recommend using a grout joint of 2mm and
the grout joints should be aligned. Ask staff for fixing advice.
