Tiling Tips
Tiling for Showers Enclosures and Wet Rooms
Tiles are the obvious choice. Fixed to a water resistant
background they provide a surface that is easy to clean
and won’t be affected by water splashes.
Wet rooms are the latest trend where you dispense with
the need for a shower tray and tile the floor with a non slip
mosaic tile. Please be advised that you must use a water
resistant background such as Marmox board on the walls
and a Marmox preformed shower tray for the base. Please
ask any member of the Tubs & Tiles staff for more details.
To prevent water damage, ask any of the Tubs & Tiles team
about a Bal Tanking System. Often due to settlement the
walls of a shower can slightly separate, causing a leak and
an unsightly mark on the ceiling below. The tanking system
is a paint and glass fibre substance which is applied before
tiling and installing the shower tray. It just takes 24 hours
to dry and will waterproof your shower or bath area.
